Frisco, TX – Seattle Sounders FC moved into second place in fought 1-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday.
With the win, Seattle moves ahead of Dallas in the standings, taking 45 points from its 26 games this season. Dallas moves down to third with 43 points in as many games.
Rosales has provided the Sounders with several crucial goals throughout the campaign. Just two weeks ago, his injury time equalizer against Sporting Kansas City gave Seattle the impetus to go on and find a winner further into injury time.
The Sounders midfielder gave his side another crucial goal Saturday, recording the game-winner in the 16th minute.
Rosales raced down the right side of the field to get on the end of a Fredy Montero through ball before ripping a shot past Kevin Hartman at the near post.
Dallas dug itself a hole in the 56th minute when Daniel Cruz was judged to have taken a dive and was promptly shown a second yellow card.
But Seattle was unable to strengthen its lead with an extra man, and Dallas could not find an equalizer, as the remainder of the match played out with no additional goals.
The Sounders (12-5-9) continue their run of good form, as they have only lost once since falling to Dallas 1-0 on May 25th. Seattle is 8-1-4 since that match, and it is unbeaten in its last three regular season encounters.
FC Dallas (12-7-7) loses for the second time in its last three MLS matches.
Both teams return to MLS action on August 27th, as Seattle will return home to host the Columbus Crew at CenturyLink Field, while Dallas will head to Livestrong Sporting Park to face Kansas City.
