Metairie, LA – The New Orleans Saints have released offensive tackle Jason Smith, coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday.
Smith, a former second overall draft choice of the St. Louis Rams in 2009, played for the New York Jets last season. The Baylor product spent the first three years of his career with the Rams.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Smith was in competition for the left tackle position.
