NEW YORK (Reuters) - Lindy Ruff will be back as the Buffalo Sabres coach for a 13th season despite the team's first-round playoff loss, the Sabres announced Thursday.

"We did pick up his (one-year) option and will be talking to Lindy and Darcy (general manager Darcy Regier) about the future," minority owner Larry Quinn told a news conference. "Any notion that they're not going to be a part of the process, let's dispel that now."

Ruff, hired before the 1997-98 season, has a 483-379-122 record in Buffalo.

The Sabres won the Northeast Division this season but were eliminated by Boston in the first round of the playoffs.
