The Kansas City Royals signed infielder year contract on Tuesday.

Betancourt returns to a franchise for which he played parts of two seasons. Kansas City acquired Betancourt from Seattle during the 2009 season and after the 2010 campaign, shipped him and 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke to Milwaukee.

Last season, Betancourt batted .252 with 13 home runs and 68 RBI in 152 games for the Brewers. He hit .310 in 11 postseason games.

For his career, the 29-year-old has batted .268 with 60 home runs, 189 doubles and 375 RBI in 962 games.
