SURPRISE, Ariz. – Wilin Rosario homered and Yorvit Torrealba had three hits and knocked in three runs as the Colorado Rockies beat the Texas Rangers 14-9 on Friday.
The Rangers got home runs from David Murphy, Nelson Cruz and A.J. Pierzynski.
Tyler Chatwood started for Colorado and allowed four runs, five hits and four walks in four innings. Closer Rafael Betancourt worked recorded two outs for in the fifth for the Rockies, but allowed five hits and four earned runs.
Rangers closer Joe Nathan worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
Nolan Arenado, one of the Rockies top prospects, went 2-for-5 as he tries to earn a job as the starting third baseman.
