NEW YORK -- Mike Richter, former New York Rangers goaltender and current environmental investment executive, will discuss a new League initiative that connects his two passions on NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman on NHL.com and SIRIUS XM Radio at 6 p.m. ET Thursday. Florida Panthers Alternate Governor Bill Torrey also will appear to discuss the naming of Dale Tallon as Executive Vice President and General Manager earlier this week.
A remarkable big-game goaltender and member of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, Richter most famously backstopped the Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup and the United States to the inaugural World Cup of Hockey title two years later. A lifelong environmentalist, Richter currently serves in a number of positions promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, most recently collaborating with the Natural Resources Defense Council in their efforts to bring best ecological practices to the sports industry.
Torrey -- architect of the New York Islanders team that won four consecutive Stanley Cups and of the Florida Panthers team that reached the Stanley Cup Final in 1996 -- was charged by Panthers ownership to secure a new general manager, and this week Dale Tallon was named to the position. Tallon spent 33 years in the Chicago Blackhawks organization as a player, scout, broadcaster, assistant general, general manager and lastly as a senior advisor. The Blackhawks currently are leading the Western Conference Final 2-0 over the San Jose Sharks.
