The New England Revolution has acquired French striker Dimitry Imbongo on a free transfer from 1860 Munich, and he will count as an international player on the team's roster.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with SV Darmstadt in the German third division, where he appeared in 13 games and assisted on two goals.

"Dimitry will give us another option up front and provide us with more depth in our attack," Revs general manager Michael Burns said. "When he was in training with us last month, he fit in well with our players and now we're looking forward to his arrival back this time on a permanent basis."

Imbongo came up through the ranks of the 1860 Munich youth system and played in parts of four seasons with the club's reserve team.
