Reports: Warrant issued for Patriots' Hernandez

Boston, MA – A warrant for the arrest of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has reportedly been issued.

According to ABC News and FOX-25 in Boston, the arrest warrant is for obstruction of justice involving the murder investigation of Odin Lloyd.

Lloyd was found dead near Hernandez's home in North Attleboro, Mass., on Monday night. Police have already met with Hernandez twice during the early stages of the investigation.

On Thursday, FOX-25 cited a law enforcement source as saying that Hernandez and Lloyd were with two other men at a bar in Boston on the night of the homicide and left together in a vehicle driven by Hernandez. The report said it is still unclear as to what happened afterward.

However, FOX-25 has also reported that Hernandez's neighbors heard gunshots between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning.

ABC News on Thursday, citing an investigator with knowledge of the case, reported that Hernandez intentionally destroyed a home security system within his house and turned over a broken cell phone to police. He also hired a cleaning service to clean his mansion on Monday, according to the source.

The damage to the surveillance system and cell phone apparently led to the arrest warrant.

Sports Illustrated first broke the story on Tuesday, saying Hernandez was questioned by Massachusetts state police in its investigation. According to SI.com, police connected a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban rented in Hernandez's name with the homicide of Lloyd.

Hernandez has spent three seasons with the Patriots. He set career highs of 79 catches, 910 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during his Pro Bowl season of 2011, then played in just 10 games due to injuries last year and finished with 51 receptions for 483 yards with five touchdowns.
