Ronda Rousey is well known for destroying opponents inside the UFC Octagon, and now she will use those skills in the new reboot of the classic 1980s film "Road House".
According to Variety, Rousey is set to star in the project from MGM where she would be portraying the same role made famous in the original by Patrick Swayze.
"Road House" took place in a small bar in Missouri where Swayze's character Dalton is hired to clean up the bar as the ultimate bouncer, but ends up saving the entire town from a corrupt businessman instead.
MGM is reportedly working on hiring writers to work on the "Road House" remake script, currently with Rousey attached to star in the film.
Swayze tragically passed away in 2009, so before Rousey would sign on to the reboot she reportedly reached out to his widow, Lisa Niemi, to get her blessing on the project, which she gladly gave the UFC superstar.
"Road House" has become a cult classic over the last 25 years since its 1989 release, and this is just the latest in a string of high-profile projects for Rousey in Hollywood.
She's already set to co-star in the film "Mile 22" with Mark Wahlberg, which will begin filming overseas in 2016 and Rousey signed on to do a biopic based on her life story from the autobiography that was released earlier this year.
The "Road House" remake is expected to be Rousey's largest starring vehicle yet because the original is beloved by so many fans, and MGM is putting the full weight of its production behind the project.
There's no word on when the "Road House" remake will begin production, but with script writers being sought currently, it sounds like the project is moving full steam ahead.
