According to a report from MLB.com, the Cincinnati Reds have signed 21-year-old Cuban shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez.

As MLB.com notes, Rodriguez is 5-foot-10, 195 pounds and posses good speed -- he clocked in at 6.6 seconds on his 60-yard-dash.

Since this signing will count against the Reds' international signing pool, they will incur a penalty for going over their allotted pool. It's a 100% penalty, so the total investment for Rodriguez will be $12 million.

Rodriguez was the 2014-2015 Serie Nacional Rookie of the Year in Cuba and will join a somewhat crowded infield. Brandon Phillips, Jose Peraza, Zach Cozart and Eugenio Suarez will all be in the mix next season, so it will be interesting to see how much time they will give Rodriguez in the minors.
