Dan Duquette has been hired to replace Andy MacPhail as president of baseball operations for the Baltimore Orioles, according to a report.

Duquette's hiring will be announced Tuesday, according to an online report Sunday by the Baltimore Sun.

It will be his first job in Major League Baseball since 2002, when he was fired as general manager of the Boston Red Sox soon after new ownership took over.

Duquette is the cousin of former Orioles vice president of baseball operations Jim Duquette, who resigned in 2007 after two years with the team.

The Orioles have suffered through 14 losing season in a row and MacPhail decided last month not to return after four-plus years as president.

The Sun said Dan Duquette had been running a baseball academy in Massachusetts since he was fired by the Red Sox almost 10 years ago.
