Newly acquired New York Knicks guard Jason Kidd was arrested for misdemeanor DWI early Sunday morning after crashing his car into a light pole, according to the New York Post.

Kidd, 39, was released on his own recognizance Sunday.

The 10-time All-Star was transported to Southampton Hospital in Southampton, N.Y., to treat minor injuries.

The gossip website TMZ.com posted pictures it said were of Kidd being helped out of a club called SL East. He had tweeted pictures of himself with his wife and director George Lucas from a Compound Foundation event.

It wasn't Kidd's first run in with the law. In January 2001 he was arrested and eventually plead guilty to a domestic violence charge.
