Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins running back Evan Royster left Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a left knee injury, which was later downgraded to a high ankle sprain.

Royster was making a run after catching a pass on 3rd-and-19 in his own territory early in the second quarter, when his knee and leg rotated awkwardly as he fell to the turf.

He was escorted from the field while placing no weight on the left leg, and was taken to the locker room for evaluation.

His return was originally questionable, but the Redskins deemed him to be out for the remainder of the contest.
