New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather has been suspended without pay for two games for repeat violations this season of NFL safety rules, the league announced Monday.

Meriweather was penalized twice in Sunday's 45-41 home win over Chicago for hits to the head and neck area of defenseless players.

Previously, he was fined $42,000 for delivering an illegal hit with the top/crown of the helmet to a runner who was outside the tackle box in Week 2 against Green Bay.

Meriweather will be reinstated on Monday, Nov. 4.
