Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Reds activated catcher Ryan Hanigan from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.
Hanigan suffered a strained left oblique in the ninth inning of an April 19 contest against the Miami Marlins when he reached to catch a high fastball from Aroldis Chapman.
He was also bothered by a sore right thumb prior to the DL stint, which may have contributed to his sluggish start at the plate (3-for-38 over 12 games).
To make room for Hanigan, the Reds designated catcher Corky Miller for assignment.
