The Boston Red Sox placed pitcher John Lackey on the 15-day disabled list with a right biceps strain.

Lackey made his season debut Saturday in Toronto, but had to leave in the fifth inning due to the injury. He allowed two earned runs on five hits in the start, his first in the major leagues since undergoing Tommy John surgery in November of 2011.

To fill his spot on the roster, Boston recalled right-hander Alex Wilson from Triple-A Pawtucket. He was 1-0 with a 10.12 ERA in two games as a reliever for Pawtucket this season.
