Seattle, WA – The Boston Red Sox activated pitcher Josh Beckett from the 15-day disabled list and named him the starter for their matchup with the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.
Beckett has been on the DL since June 16 with right shoulder inflammation and gave up four runs on six hits over seven innings in his last outing -- a 4-1 loss against the Miami Marlins on June 11.
The 32-year-old right-hander is 4-7 on the season with a 4.14 earned run average in 12 starts.
To make room for Beckett on the roster, the Red Sox designated outfielder Darnell McDonald for assignment.
McDonald appeared in 38 games with Boston this season and hit .214 with two home runs and nine RBI.
