Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays designated pitcher Ernesto Frieri for assignment on Tuesday.

Frieri, who signed a one-year contract with the Rays during the offseason, compiled a 1-0 record with a 4.63 earned run average and two saves over 22 appearances this season.

Frieri owns a career record of 11-13 with a 3.55 ERA in 298 appearances with the Padres, Angels, Pirates and Rays.
