The Colorado Rapids have signed versatile defender Miguel Comminges, a Guadeloupe international with experience playing professionally in France and England, as an international player.

Comminges, 29, last played for Southend United in England's League Two, having also played for Cardiff City in the Championship from 2008-2011, and Swindon Town from 2007-2008. He began his career in France's Ligue 2.

He has represented Guadeloupe in international play since 2007.

"Miguel is a talented, versatile defender, and will give our squad even better depth by providing another option at left or right back," said Colorado coach Gary Smith. "He has trained with the club a good deal in the last month, and we're excited to officially welcome him into the team."

Comminges is expected to join the team early next week and will be eligible for Tuesday night's CONCACAF Champions League game against Santos. Per Major League Soccer and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
