New York Rangers forward Andre Deveaux has been suspended three games by the NHL for an illegal check in Wednesday's loss at Florida.

The suspension, which will cost Deveaux a little more than $8,513 in salary, was announced on Friday.

The hit came at 10:59 of the second period in the 2-1 Rangers loss, when Deveaux struck Panthers forward Tomas Fleischmann in the head with his elbow.

Fleischmann was taken to the locker room after the hit, but returned later in the period. Deveaux received a match penalty for an illegal check to the head that caused injury.

He will be eligible to return December 1 at Carolina. His forfeited salary will go into the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
