Raiders LB Goethel to have surgery

Oakland, CA – Oakland Raiders linebacker Travis Goethel needs surgery on his injured knee.

Goethel, a sixth-round pick in 2010, injured his knee in Monday's practice.

"He (Goethel) tore something in there that I think is not going to be very good," head coach Hue Jackson said. "He's going to end up having to have surgery. It's unfortunate but it's part of this game. That's two years in a row for him in a tough situation, but we support him and we'll do anything for him."

The Arizona State product was limited to eight games last season due to a back injury. He had nine tackles.
