Katowice, Poland (SportsNetwork.com) - Heavy Polish crowd favorite Agnieszka Radwanska was an easy quarterfinal winner, while defending champion Alize Cornet was an upset victim Friday at the Katowice Open.

The top-seeded former Wimbledon runner-up Radwanska doused Czech Klara Koukalova 6-1, 6-1 in a mere 57 minutes at this indoor hardcourt event.

Radwanska's semifinal opponent on Saturday will be capable Italian Camila Giorgi, who was last year's Katowice runner-up.

Eighth-seeded Slovak Anna Schmiedlova vanquished the second-seeded Frenchwoman Cornet 6-2, 6-0 on Day 5.

Cornet topped Giorgi in last year's finale at Spodek.

Meanwhile, a third-seeded Giorgi handled Russian lucky loser Elizaveta Kulichkova 6-3, 6-4 and Alison Van Uytvanck upset seventh-seeded fellow Belgian Kirsten Flipkens 6-2, 6-4.

Saturday's other semi will pit Schmiedlova against Van Uytvanck.

This week's winner will collect $43,000.
