Beijing, China (SportsNetwork.com) - Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska, fourth- seeded Chinese star Li Na and last week's Tokyo titlist Petra Kvitova were among the winners Wednesday at the $5 million China Open.
The former Wimbledon runner-up Radwanska rolled past American Madison Keys 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round on the hardcourts at the National Tennis Center.
The 2011 China Open champion and 2009 runner-up Radwanska's opponent on Thursday will be Slovenian qualifier Polona Hercog.
Li and the ninth-seeded Kvitova secured berths in the quarterfinals, as Li handled 13th-seeded Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki 7-5, 6-4 and Kvitova upended fifth-seeded former French Open runner-up Sara Errani 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 on Day 5. The hot Kvitova is seeking her second title in two weeks after claiming her championship in Tokyo.
The heavy crowd favorite Li and Kvitova will clash in the quarters on Friday.
In other second-round action, eighth-seeded former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic, who titled here in 2008 and was the runner-up in 2007, held off Kazakhstani qualifier Galina Voskoboeva 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, the aforementioned Hercog humbled 14th-seeded former top-ranked star Ana Ivanovic 6-4, 6-4, and 2011 Beijing runner-up Andrea Petkovic of Germany doused two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Kuznetsova titled here in 2006 and 2009 and was a runner-up in 2004 and 2008.
The third round will wrap-up on Thursday, including matches for top-seeded 2004 Beijing champ Serena Williams and sixth-seeded former world No. 1 and 2010 Beijing titlist Caroline Wozniacki. The U.S. and French Open champion Williams will meet 2005 Beijing winner Maria Kirilenko, while Wozniacki will battle 11th-seeded American Sloane Stephens.
The high-flying Williams is a brilliant 78-4 this year and seeking her 10th title of 2013.
The 2013 China Open titlist will collect $860,000.
