Pro golfer Ricky Barnes had his wallet, golf bag, clubs and an $8,000 watch stolen from the trunk of his car at a Chicago area charity tournament, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday.

Barnes, the 2009 US Open runner-up, was the guest of honor at the Middle Market Open National Kidney Foundation golf tournament at Olympia Fields, Ill.

The 30-year-old reportedly placed his bag and other belongings in the trunk of his rental car Monday at about 4:00pm local time and returned less than half an hour later to find property worth thousands of dollars was gone.

The most expensive item was his $8,000 Breitling for Bentley watch, while his 14 clubs were valued at $3,500.

The world No. 93 remained in good spirits despite the theft. When asked to assess his solid year, which included a tie for 20th at the Masters, Barnes quipped, "Yeah, it was a good season -- with the clubs I used to have."
