Portugal striker Helder Postiga has been ruled out of his team's Euro 2012 semifinal because of a hamstring injury.

Postiga sustained the problem in the first half of Portugal's 1-0 quarterfinal win over the Czech Republic on Thursday and was replaced by Hugo Almeida.

Team doctor Henrique Jones said after the match that Postiga would be unlikely to recover in time for Wednesday's semifinal against either France or Spain, with the Portuguese Football Federation confirming those thoughts on Friday.

The 29-year-old scored one goal in four games at Euro 2012, and it is expected that he will be replaced in Wednesday's match by either Almeida or young striker Nelson Oliveira.
