Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies have activated pitcher John Lannan from the 15-day disabled list and named him the starter for Monday's opener of a three-game set against the Washington Nationals.
Lannan, who spent his first six seasons in Washington, signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Phils this offseason and posted a 2.77 earned run average over his first two starts before allowing six runs on eight hits over 1 2/3 innings in an April 17 setback against Cincinnati.
The veteran left-hander landed on the DL the following day with a strained left quadriceps tendon, but is slated to return from a two-month absence Monday when he faces his former team for the first time.
To make room for Lannan, the Phillies placed pitcher Jeremy Horst on the 15- day disabled list with a left elbow strain.
Horst was tagged for three runs on four hits in an inning of relief work against Colorado on Saturday and owns an 0-2 record with a 6.23 ERA over 28 games this season.
