Toward the end of Paul Simon's concert at The Greek Theater in Berkeley, California on Friday, Simon strummed chords to "The Boxer" when he shared word of Muhammad Ali's death.

"I'm sorry to tell you this way, but Muhammad Ali has passed away" he said.

And then he started into the final verse of the 1969 chart topper by Simon and Garfunkel that finishes with a fitting line:

In the clearing stands a boxer,
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
And cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
'I am leaving, I am leaving.'
But the fighter still remains

One of the concertgoers reported that Simon dedicated the song to the iconic boxer and humanitarian to close out the show along with "Sounds of Silence."
