Joe Panzeri fired a course-record 9-under 62 on Friday to take a 5-stroke lead with the second round of the ATB Financial Classic suspended due to darkness.

Panzeri, who won in Saskatchewan last year, finished 36 holes at 13-under 129.

First-round leader Scott Harrington bogeyed his final hole to post a 1-under 70. He was joined in second place at 8-under-par 134 by Ryan Williams (70) and Nick Taylor (65).

Russell Surber (67), Darren Wallace (69), Michael Gligic (70), Wes Homan (69), Dodge Kemmer (68) and Chris Killmer (67) share fifth place at minus-7.

Defending champion Hugo Leon managed an even-par 71 to slip into a tie for 11th at 6-under-par 136 at Windemere Golf & Country Club.

There was a lengthy weather delay on Friday. Play was eventually called for the day due to darkness. The round will resume at 9:30 a.m. (et) Saturday morning with the third round to start at noon.

Panzeri birdied the first two holes before making four pars in a row. After a birdie on the seventh, he caught fire starting at the ninth.

The 25-year-old poured in five consecutive birdies from the ninth to grab the lead at 12-under. Panzeri went on to par four of the last five holes. He birdied the 16th to help set a course record and match the tournament's 18- hole scoring record.

NOTES: Panzeri's 36-hole total of 129 matched the record that Dustin Risdon set in 2008...The cut line fall at 1-under-par 141 with Kent Eger, Darren Griff, Wes Heffernan and Risdon, the 2008 and 2010 champion, among those who will miss the final two rounds.
