San Diego Padres right-hander Micah Owings has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm.

Owings, who has posted an 0-2 mark and 2.79 ERA in six relief appearances this year, was signed as a free agent in the offseason. He has compiled a 32-33 record with a 4.86 ERA in 138 games (68 starts) over parts of six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2007-08, 11), Cincinnati Reds (2009-10) and Padres (2012). Owings finished the 2011 campaign perfect, going 8-0 and compiling a career-best 3.57 earned run average in 33 games (four starts) for Arizona.

San Diego also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Dale Thayer from Triple-A Tucson and transferred right-handed pitcher Dustin Moseley to the 60- day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.
