Peoria, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley was diagnosed with a strained right calf Tuesday, one day after undergoing an MRI to confirm the severity of the injury.

Headley, who had surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee in October, sustained a Grade 1 calf strain and is expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks during spring training.

The 29-year-old Headley hit .250 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI in 141 games last season, his seventh with the Padres since being drafted by the club in the second round of the 2005 amateur draft.
