Padres claim P Weber

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres claimed pitcher Thad Weber from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

Weber appeared in two games for Detroit this season, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks over four innings.

The 27-year-old rookie will report to Triple-A Tucson.

San Diego designated pitcher Neil Wagner for assignment to make room on the roster for Weber.

Wagner, who made six relief appearances for the Oakland Athletics in 2011, is 4-1 with a 5.28 ERA in 43 Triple-A games for Tucson and Sacramento this season.
