San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres selected the contract of pitcher Andrew Werner from Triple-A Tucson, optioned pitcher Brad Boxberger to Tucson and designated outfielder Jeremy Hermida for assignment.
Werner went 5-10 with a 3.70 ERA and 109 strikeouts against 31 walks over 22 starts between Double-A San Antonio and Tucson this season.
In 13 relief outings for the Padres this year, Boxberger posted a 3.52 ERA.
Hermida hit .250 with two RBI in 13 games for San Diego this season.
