The Los Angeles Dodgers placed closer Vicente Padilla on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of radial nerve irritation in his forearm, and recalled Ramon Troncoso from Triple-A Albuquerque to shore up the bullpen.

The move is retroactive to May 14, the day after Padilla threw 32 pitches in the ninth inning and gave up two runs before Kenley Jansen closed out the 4-3 victory over Arizona.

Padilla, a former starter who missed the first 20 games of the season while recovering from the forearm surgery he underwent during spring training, had converted his three previous save attempts after regular closer Jonathan Broxton went on the disabled list because of a bone bruise on his left elbow.
