The Baltimore Orioles released Jamie Moyer on Saturday.

The 49-year-old left-hander, who signed a minor league contract with the team earlier this month, asked to be released and was granted his wish, according to MLB.com.

He never pitched for the Orioles, but went 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Norfolk.

Moyer started the season with Colorado and became the oldest pitcher in major league history to win a game. He was 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA in 10 starts before the Rockies released him and is 269-209 in 25 major league seasons.

Tommy John surgery caused Moyer to miss the entire 2011 season.
