BALTIMORE (Reuters) - Free agent Derrek Lee has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles, the team said on Thursday.

A two-time All-Star, the 35-year-old Lee hit .260 with 19 home runs and 80 runs batted in from 148 games with the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves in 2010.

He played the full season with a torn ligament in his right thumb before having surgery in November.

The Orioles, who were seeking a power-hitting first baseman, did not reveal the financial terms of the deal on their website (http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com).
