Orioles activate OF Chavez from DL

The Baltimore Orioles reinstated outfielder Endy Chavez from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.

Chavez, who had been on the DL retroactive to May 9, was out with a left oblique strain. Over 20 games this season, he is batting just .133 with one RBI and six runs scored.

The Orioles also selected the contract of right-hander Miguel Gonzalez from Triple-A Norfolk and also optioned pitcher Tommy Hunter and outfielder Xavier Avery to Norfolk.

Hunter is 2-3 with a 5.59 ERA in 10 starts for the Orioles this season, while Avery batted .217 in 15 games for Baltimore. Gonzalez was 2-1 with one save and a 1.50 ERA in 11 games (3 starts) for Norfolk.
