The Olympic Club in San Francisco will host the inaugural men's U.S. Amateur Four-Ball championship, and Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the Oregon coast will hold the first women's event in 2015.

The U.S. Golf Association also announced Monday that Winged Foot Golf Club just outside New York City will host the men's event in 2016. The women's four-ball tournament will be held at newly designed Streamsong Resort near Tampa, Fla., that year.

The USGA said earlier this year it was getting rid of the U.S. Amateur Public Links competition in favor of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship to meet what it says is a trend at the state and regional level. It's the first time since the State Team Championships in 1995 that the USGA has introduced a new championship.
