Retired Olympian and World Cup champion soccer player Mia Hamm appeared on FoxNews.com Live today and commented on Southern Mississippi University band members chanting "where's your green card?" at Kansas State University basketball freshman Angel Hernandez, a Puerto Rican.

Hamm is married to Nomar Garciaparra, a former baseball All-Star with the Boston Red Sox who is of Mexican descent.

They have twin daughters.

Hamm retired from soccer in 2004.

Juliet Huddy: Did you ever see that kind of stuff?

Mia Hamm: No and I didn’t see that game.  You know when you told me that the first thing I thought about was, it’s 2012.  I hope We’re at a point in this country where we are not cheering those things.  And also, my husband is Latino, My daughters are half Latino, and that’s something that for me I want them to be proud of their heritage.  And I want them to be proud to be an American.

I think as a country we’re better than that.
