New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Edmonton Oilers defenseman Keith Aulie was suspended two games by the NHL on Thursday for an illegal check to the head of Calgary forward Matt Stajan on Wednesday.

Aulie received a match penalty after drilling Stajan in the head with his left arm as the Flames center looked to play a puck in the neutral zone with less than a minute to go in the first period.

Aulie will not be paid during the suspension. He will forfeit $8,602 to the players' emergency assistance fund.
