Columbus, OH – Ohio State senior running back Carlos Hyde was suspended for the first three games of the upcoming season.
Head coach Urban Meyer made the announcement Monday night.
"Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university. He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game," the statement read on Twitter.
The Columbus Dispatch released a surveillance video from a downtown Columbus bar that shows Hyde and a 19-year-old woman taking swings at each other after a brief chat.
The newspaper said Columbus police indicated Hyde would not be charged with assault because the woman doesn't want to pursue the case.
Hyde, the Buckeyes' projected No. 1 running back, rushed for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2012.
He will miss games against Buffalo, San Diego State and California before returning for the Sept. 21 home contest against Florida A&M.
