Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics have avoided arbitration with first baseman Daric Barton by agreeing to a one-year deal.

Barton batted .269 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 37 games for the Athletics in 2013. The 28-year-old spent the balance of the 2013 season at Triple-A Sacramento where he batted .297 with seven home runs and 69 RBI in 110 games.

Oakland also released left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa. Figueroa was 3-4 with a 4.10 ERA in 46 appearances with Sacramento in 2013. He made five relief appearances for the A's.
