Nuggets take winning streak to Twin Cities

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets will carry a three-game winning streak into Minnesota Wednesday night when they take on the Timberwolves at Target Center.

The Nuggets have toppled the Chicago Bulls at home, then swept a home-and-home series with the Dallas Mavericks. They knocked off the Mavs Monday night in Big D, 110-96.

J.J. Hickson paced the Nuggets, who shot almost 55 percent from the field, with 22 points. Ty Lawson was next with 19 points and 11 assists, followed by 17 from Nate Robinson.

"I thought it was a good team win for our guys tonight. We got contributions from a lot of different places. J.J. Hickson was huge for us. Ty (Lawson) once, again, distributing the ball, picking his spots when to take over the game," said Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw. "Just a great team win from beginning to end, and like I said, with contributions from everybody."

Jordan Hamilton, Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried also scored in double- figures for the Nuggets.

The Nuggets return home Friday night, then head east for six straight.

The Wolves have lost two in a row and four of their last five. Minnesota has taken four of its last five at home, which is where there last victory came. The T'Wolves beat the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

But in between, the Wolves fell to the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers, both on the road.

Against the Pacers on Monday, Minny couldn't get anything going. The Wolves only shot 32 percent from the field and the Pacers went 50 percent from the floor.

Kevin Love led the way for Minnesota with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Nikola Pekovic had 18 points and 11 boards, while Kevin Martin also posted 18 points in the loss.

The Wolves only shot 15.8 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

Wednesday will be the first game for Minnesota since the Wolves traded former No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams to the Sacramento Kings for defensive specialist Luc Mbah a Moute.

"We are excited to acquire a solid veteran player in Luc Mbah a Moute," said Flip Saunders, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations. "Luc is known as one of the premier defensive players in the league with an ability to guard multiple positions. He adds a lot of energy, grit and a high basketball IQ to our team."

The Nuggets beat the Wolves, 117-113, in Denver on Nov. 15. Denver took 12 of the last 15 meetings between the two teams and 10 of the last 12 in Minnesota, dating back to 2007.
