(SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets collected their biggest win of the season last time out and will try to continue the momentum Wednesday night when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Pepsi Center.
The Nuggets used a wonderful attack to topple LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 106-97, Monday at Quicken Loans Arena.
Ty Lawson scored 24 points with 12 assists to lead the Nuggets.
Arron Afflalo supplied 23 points and Timofey Mozgov registered 14 points with 11 rebounds for the Nuggets, who won two of three on their three-game road trip and avenged a home loss to the Cavs on Nov. 7.
"Regardless of the fact that we were disappointed in yesterday afternoon's game, it can still be a positive road trip if we could get this game tonight," said Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw. "I thought they were focused."
The Nuggets held a team under 100 points for just the third time this season. Denver shot 48.2 percent from the field and won despite the fact that James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Dion Waiters all scored over 20 points.
The Nuggets play three of their next four at the Pepsi Center, where Denver is just 1-3 this season.
The Thunder have lost three in a row and four of their last five.
On Tuesday, Oklahoma City fell, 98-81, in Salt Lake City to the Utah Jazz.
Jeremy Lamb logged 19 points for Oklahoma City, followed by 11 from Steven Adams and 10 out of Reggie Jackson.
The Thunder held the high-scoring Rockets to 69 points on Sunday -- albeit in a loss -- and were stingy early on Tuesday as they allowed just 14 points in the first quarter.
A nine-point lead heading into the second quarter increased to 17 on a Adams dunk midway through the frame, but the Jazz took over from there.
Oklahoma City made just one field goal over the final six minutes of the half, and Utah's subsequent 18-3 run -- with a dozen points coming from the foul line -- cut the deficit to 42-40 at the break.
A Gordon Hayward bucket midway through the third handed the Jazz their first lead at 53-52, and a 15-2 run over the final three minutes gave the hosts a 57-48 cushion.
"It comes down to us being able to execute on both ends for 48 minutes, there's not a lot of room for error," Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said. "The guys understand that, but we have to be able to execute on the court."
Serge Ibaka struggled badly against the Jazz, shooting 2-for-13 from the floor for six points.
OKC moved to 1-6 this season on the road, but after Wednesday's bout with the Nuggets, a fellow resident of the Northwest Division, the Thunder play four straight at home.
The Thunder beat Denver by 11 in Oklahoma City on Nov. 1. but the Nuggets have won three of their last four against OKC at home.
