Landon Clement scored 11 of his career-high 26 points in the final 31 seconds as North Carolina Central defeated Howard 79-70 on Saturday.

The Eagles (11-10) led 67-66 with 31 seconds left to play before a 3-pointer from Clement sparked a 12-2 run — led by Clement's eight free throws — to seal the win.

Howard committed two technical fouls in the final 16 seconds, allowing N.C. Central to clinch the victory at the free-throw line.

Nick Chasten added 20 points, C.J. Wilkerson had 16 and Jeremy Ingram 10 for the Eagles, who shot 51 percent from the floor (25 of 49).

The Bison (4-19) led 34-28 at halftime and continued to lead 62-61 with 5:25 left to play. But N.C. Central made 12 for 14 free throws down the stretch to pull ahead for good.

Anton Dickerson scored 24 points, Kyle Riley added 15, Dadrian Collins 13 and Mike Phillips 10 for Howard.
