J.P. Primm scored 24 points and North Carolina-Asheville snapped a two-game losing streak with an 88-67 win over Winthrop on Thursday night.

Winthrop trailed by 16 points early in the second half but the Bulldogs went on an 18-3 run to put the game out of reach. Two free throws by Matt Dickey capped the run as the Bulldogs led 64-44 with 9:42 to play. The Bulldogs' largest lead was 27 points, 85-58, with 3:45 remaining.

Dickey added 19 points and John Williams had 15 for the Bulldogs (7-8, 2-3 Big South Conference).

The Bulldogs shot 51.8 percent (29 of 56) from the field while Winthrop made only 34.4 percent (22 of 64) of its field goal attempts. The Bulldogs were 10 of 15 (66.7 percent) from 3-point range.

Robbie Dreher scored 19 points and Matt Morgan added 16 for the Eagles (6-8, 2-2), who have lost three of their past four games.
