Newcastle striker Nile Ranger has been charged with assault after he allegedly attacked a man in the early hours of Sunday morning outside a nightclub.

The incident is the latest in a string of arrests for the 20-year-old, who is also facing charges for violence, drunk driving and being drunk and disorderly stemming from two separate incidents.

Ranger had just been reinstated to first-team training after spending the past three months with the reserves, and he had already been warned by the club over his discipline in the past.

The striker has yet to appear in a league game for the Magpies this season but made 24 appearances last term for the club.
