Washington, DC – The Washington Nationals placed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
The move is move is retroactive to July 1 as Wang is suffering from a right hip strain.
The 32-year-old is 2-3 with a 7.61 earned run average in seven games (four starts) for Washington this season. He missed the first 42 games of the season after suffering a left hamstring injury in spring training.
To take his spot on the roster, the team activated pitcher Henry Rodriguez off the 15-day disabled list.
Rodriguez was placed on the DL on June 7 with a right index finger injury. He is 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA and nine saves over 24 appearances this season with Washington.
