Nationals LHP Gio Gonzalez, Orioles 3B Danny Valencia cleared after MLB's Biogenesis inquiry

Formally cleared by Major League Baseball, Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez says he has "no lingering sense of animosity" over being connected to a drug investigation that resulted in the suspensions of more than a dozen other players.

MLB announced Monday that New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was banned through 2014, while 12 players were suspended 50 games apiece because of their relationship to Biogenesis of America, which is accused of distributing banned performing-enhancing drugs.

The sport said its inquiry "found no violations" by two players linked to Biogenesis in media reports: Gonzalez, a left-hander who finished third in NL Cy Young Award voting last year, and Danny Valencia, a Baltimore Orioles third baseman recalled from the minors on Sunday.
