(SportsNetwork.com) - Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week's event in Switzerland because of fatigue.

Nadal made the announcement Friday in a post on his Facebook page.

"Hi all, sorry to announce that I won't travel to Basel in Switzerland but after very exhausting weeks I have to regroup my fitness and my body," he wrote. "I will do my best to come back to the Swiss Indoors next year."

Nadal recently ascended to the top of the world rankings with a season that has included Grand Slam titles at the French Open and U.S. Open. He returned from a seven-month layoff in February after recovering from knee issues and has reached the final in 13 of his 15 events, winning 10 titles.

The Spanish superstar lost to Juan Martin del Potro in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters last week.
