ATLANTA – Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, and the team put left-handed reliever Zach Braddock on the DL because of a sleep disorder.
Morgan was starting in center field and batting second against the Braves, replacing Carlos Gomez.
Morgan has been out with a bruised right quadriceps. He was hitting .455 in 13 games for the Brewers and played two games with Triple-A Nashville on an injury rehabilitation assignment.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Braddock will remain with the team on its road trip, which ends with a weekend series in St. Louis.
Roenicke said tests on Braddock the last 10 days confirmed the disorder. More tests are planned in Milwaukee after the road trip.
Braddock, 23, is 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 12 games. He had a 2.98 ERA in 46 games last season.
The numbers may not indicate a problem, but Roenicke said Braddock looks different.
"This is a real thing," Roenicke said. "I think people look at it a little differently, but if you've been with Zach and you see him every day when he comes in here, it's a real thing. ... To try to perform every day physically and go out there when you're not sleeping well, that's rough."
The loss of Braddock leaves Milwaukee with only one left-handed reliever, Mitch Stetter.
Roenicke said the team's seven-man bullpen is sufficient because "our starting pitchers have been good. They're getting us late enough in games."
Milwaukee was carrying 13 pitchers before Tuesday's moves.
